Advanced Monitoring and Control System for Virtual Power Plants for Enabling Customer Engagement and Market Participation

To integrate large-scale renewable energy into systems, an effective participation from private investors and active customer engagement are essential. Virtual power plants (VPPs) a very promising approach. realize this engagement, efficient monitoring control system needs to be implemented for the VPP flexible, scalable, secure, cost-effective. In paper, realistic in Western Australia is studied, comprising 67 dwellings, including 810 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system, 700 kWh vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB), heat pump hot water (HWS), electric vehicle (EV) charging station, demand management mechanisms. The practical detailed concept design of EEBUS-enabled appliances, also PV VRFB with smart inverters, proposed. addition, fog-based storage computing developed enable owner manage PV, VRFB, EV station maximizing benefit customers owner. Further, proposed cloud-based applications participate gamified response programs increasing level their while satisfying comfort level. All systems architecture paper have capability being fully relevant references devices given where necessary.
